Plus, you get to have an immediate and lasting impact on the look of our PlayHaven center. So, if you have an artistic inclination and want to try your hand at creating mosaics, please contact me to set up a time for you to come and play with the various pieces we have on hand. I will be on the property every morning for the next two weeks, and some afternoons. Jhan's schedule is a little less predictable because of her teaching obligations, but she will be there as much as she can. If you have any broken tile, dishes, mugs, colored glass, as well as shells, glass beads, or any other items that you think would be a good addition to the mosaics, please feel free to either bring them to Global Chant on Wednesday night or to drop them by 505 S. Columbus Blvd. It's pretty easy to find us. We have the long gray stucco wall directly facing the Lineweaver Elementary schoolyard. Here are a couple of pics so that you know what to look for:

Columbus Blvd:

1. Submit your wall design ideas! At Wed night's (2/9/11) PlayHaven meeting, we decided that each of us would sketch out some ideas for the mosaic that will go on the wall (there will be two 60-foot sections of six-foot-high wall facing the street). If you would like to submit an idea for the design, please bring with you to next Wednesday's GC. We will have a creative session in McBride Hall (our normal Wed GC meeting space), starting at 7:30pm, so that we can play with different design ideas.

2. Wall-raising. On Saturday, February 19, starting at 12:30pm, we will be constructing the frame for the wall. We could use all the help we can get. This is not strenuous labor, and it should last no more than 60-90 minutes. All it involves is inserting pieces or rebar into the concrete footer (while the concrete is still wet) and then tying it to the rest of the frame using bailing wire. It will be a lot of fun, and we will have immediate gratification watching the wall go up in a matter of minutes. Please e-mail me if you can make it.

3. Mosaic samples. I've posted some samples of interesting broken-tile mosaic wall designs in the Files section of our newsgroup: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/globalchant/ (click on "Files"). If you have any other pics that you want to share, please feel free to post them there or e-mail them to me.

4. Full-moon ceremony. In my previous posting about this, I had left out the date. This ceremony will take place on Friday, February 18, starting at 6:30pm, in the back of 505 S. Columbus Blvd. We will have a fire pit. You may want to bring a chair or cushion to sit on, warm clothes, and a flashlight.

As you can see, PlayHaven is becoming more of a reality with each passing day. We are having regular outdoor events there, and very soon (within the next two months) we will have new usable indoor space for our gatherings. Thanks for everything you are doing to make this happen!
