Centers
One of PlayHaven's primary functions is to help local communities establish centers devoted entirely to group play. The first of these centers is being established in Tucson, Arizona. PlayHaven is in the process of acquiring a property that will serve as both our "heartquarters" and the site of our local community center. We expect to begin construction of our facilities by January 2011 and to have our grand opening by January 2012.
Once completed, this center will host every imaginable kind of group play, including chanting, dance, drumming, yoga, crafts, gardening, and anything else our community can envision and create together. We plan to have activities available several days and evenings each month, and all of our events will be free, inclusive, intentional, and--of course--fun!
In the day-to-day operations of these centers, PlayHaven recommends that the following guidelines be followed:
1. Inclusiveness. Everyone is welcome, regardless of faith or culture, as long as they are open to play, to love and joy, and to shared celebration.
2. Unconditional acceptance. Nobody is judged--especially for their past behavior--and everyone is honored and acknowledged equally.
3. No rules. Any conflicts or dilemmas that arise are resolved by a "council of elders" that considers each specific situation and makes decisions based on consensus.
4. Group will. Decisions are made by individuals who are guided by their intuition and their commitment to benefit the overall community. Any individual who is willing to take a thoughtful and conciliatory approach to the decision-making process can take part in it.
5. No leaders. Some individuals may choose to take on the responsibilities involved in the day-to-day operations of the center. These individuals are considered valuable servants of the community rather than leaders. They serve the community's needs and seek to carry out the group will with a light touch, trying to be as invisible as possible.
6. Shared intention. The binding force in our community is our intention to immerse ourselves in love and joy through our group play activities and to share our love and joy with others.
